Patience in Motion
On waiting, breathing and moving on
There is a particular kind of courage required when the way ahead is not yet clear,
Not the courage to charge forward. The courage to pause. To breathe. To remain open.
Some seasons arrive with a map.
Others offer only enough light for the next step.
We send our hopes outward. We prepare. We listen for what might be calling us forward.
And then—we wait.
Not without movement.
But without certainty.
I once thought patience meant standing still until something happened.
Now I wonder if it is something far more active.
Patience can be the choice to keep tending what matters while the outcome remains unknown. It can be preparing for a door before we know whether it will open. It can be holding hope gently—without demanding that it reveals its plans.
There is motion in all of this.
Quiet motion.
The inhale that gathers courage.
The exhale that releases what cannot be controlled.
The small, faithful steps taken before the destination appears.
That kind of patience asks us to live fully in the space between not yet and what comes next.
That space can feel uncertain.
And yet, it is not empty.
Something is always becoming there.
Perhaps a path is forming. Perhaps our direction is shifting. Perhaps we are being prepared for something we cannot see from where we stand.
So I am learning not to fill every silence with worry or mistake every pause for a closed door.
I can be still without surrendering momentum.
I can rest without abandoning hope.
I can breathe here—and trust that when the next step becomes clear, I will have the courage to take it.
I am learning that patience can have momentum.
It can be found in the quiet acts of continuing—reaching toward possibility, turning the next page, tending what is beginning, and choosing once more to try.
There are days when I would like the future to announce itself clearly: Here is the door. Here is the place. Here is what comes next.
Instead, life often offers only enough light for one more step.
Perhaps that is enough.
Even when the destination is uncertain, we can continue moving toward to what feels true. We can remain open to possibilities we have not yet imagined. We can trust that the work we are doing now is preparing us for something still beyond our view.
Patience does not ask us to stop hoping. It asks us to give hope room to unfold. So I will keep writing. Keep preparing. Keep noticing the light. Keep moving toward the life that is waiting to meet me.
Not hurriedly.
Not perfectly.
But faithfully—
One hopeful step at a time.
Our next step may not yet be clear.
We may not see the whole path.
And yet, we are moving forward.
Perhaps patience is not waiting for life to move again.
Perhaps it is trusting that life is already moving—quietly, deeply, beyond what we can see.
The unknown is not the end of the path.
It is where the path is still becoming.
And so are we—
breathing, believing, and moving forward.
This is patience in motion.
Onward. With light,
Fran
